Artifact Claims Nerf - No House Claims Against Dynasty

House members will no longer be able to press House artifact claims against members of the same Dynasty in the artifact demand interaction unless they possess a personal claim to the artifact. No longer will your empire be torn apart by landed House members offended by your denial of Maria's Brooch.

The malus for rejecting the demand is now tied to the artifacts tier; gone will be the days when trinkets cause -60 opinion every 5 years when spammed artifact requests are rejected.

The Problem With Vanilla

Vanilla adds a House claim to all artifacts after 50 years possession by the House. However when Houses split off from your Dynasty the claims transfer to their new House and the historical artifacts they claim as their own are no longer recognised by them as belonging to the right House, and the request trinket spam begins. Every rejection, no matter what the artifact tier, causes a -60 hit to opinion, and it is spammed by a fixated AI every 5 years. Woe to your empire if you've landed family over the centuries.

The Fixes

Artifact Claims Nerf applies the following fixes:

  • House claims can no longer be pressed against members of the same Dynasty in the claim artifact interaction.
  • Personal claims against Dynasts can still be pressed against Dynasts regardless of House claims.
  • House claims can still be pressed against Dynasts who do not also possess a House claim.
  • The opinion malus for rejecting the demand is scaled to the artifact tier. No more will trinkets cause -60 opinion malus, instead artifacts will cause:
  • Common -10
  • Masterwork -20
  • Famed -40
  • Illustrious -60
  • AI will suffer a 30 year cool down on rejection from asking for the same artifact again.
  • Note the way vanilla has coded this only allows the last artifact requested per character to be subject to a per-artifact cooldown and can be evaded by requesting a different artifact to cancel the cooldown on the first artifact, I hope to have a fix for this loophole in a future update.
  • Fixes the interaction to allow per-artifact cooldowns, with the caveats above, as intended by the code and tooltip, rather than a global cooldown on using the interaction per-character that affects every artifact request.
  • Nerfs the AI to only evaluate the decision every 15 years rather than 5. No more spamming the interaction every 5 years on a fixated target.
  • The artifact claims war casus belli can not be used to press house artifact claims against members of the same dynasty in an artifact claims war.
  • Personal artifact claims can still be pressed to wage artifact claim wars against members of the same dynasty.
  • The AI can only declare artifact claim wars for illustrious or famed tier artifacts, no more AI trinket wars.
  • If the AI can not benefit from an artifact, like the dynasty banner for another dynasty that the AI does not belong to, or a religious artifact from a different religion, the AI can no longer demand, declare wars, challenge, or scheme to steal, the artifact.
  • This will prevent the situation where House claims are generated on the players artifact inventory, which when gifted out by the player to the correct dynasty or faith, cause members of the players dynasty to target the artifact recipient despite not being able to benefit from the gifted artifact themselves.
  • Fixes vanilla bug so you can now gift dynasty banners to the head of the dynasty.
  • Dynasty banners can only be gifted to the dynasty head, thanks to code from CirclePete.
  • AI can no longer gift artifacts that the recipient can not use.
  • Artifact duels fought in the right of a house claim will result in the defeated duelist losing their house's claim to the artifact if they did not also possess a personal claim. Will prevent the AI cycle challenging duels on a fixated target. Thanks to =Sarsante= for discovering the issue.
