Patrum Scuta is a complete emblem overhaul mod for Crusader Kings III.
Disclaimer : You can and should consider this mod a BETA as none of the features are really 100% finished and the scope will be ever expanding (people familiar with the CK2 version will understand what I mean). The following description will be a bit rough, sorry for that.
This CKIII version is the direct successor of its namesake for CK2. Basically this is a restart from scratch, taking advantage of the new expanded possibilities with the game's engine but replacing all the artwork (and I mean all of it, hundreds and hundreds of designs) with a higher and constant resolution (a medium res version exists in case there's a need for it, just ask on steam workshop).
- New shield frames with a different rank/colour scheme :
Uniform between titles & dynasties. No red overlay for uncreated titles which simply have a greyed frame versus the regular gold frame for all existing titles.
- New banners :
Based on real historical design while also less extreme as vanilla's banners.
- Increasing coverage of titles and dynasties across the map
The scope of this is expanding with each update of course.
- Increased use of the dynamic title system :
Barely used in vanilla. Covers the reconquista, historical crusader states, new plausible christian kingdom alternatives in the middle east.
- CoA designer :
The mod has been built from the start with the designer in mind. In many cases, designs can be easily rearranged through more or less clever scripting but that leaves the user unable to achieve the same when using the designer.
All the designs in the mod have been split in two categories :
- Compatibility : Most mods should be compatible, up to a reasonable point : This is meant to work with the world map & history files - so no total conversion.
Other emblem mods have been reported to work depending on the load order.
There is a compatch for Better CoA designer so that the frames match.
- Ironman achievements : Sadly, not gonna be possible. In CK3 emblems are controlled via the common folder so I won't be able to make an ironman version this time (would be little left of the mod without those).
