Union of Elves and Men
A Submod for Lord of the Rings: Realms in Exile
Lord of the Rings: Return of the King ] Mine is the choice of Luthien, and as she has chosen, both the sweet and the bitter.
This submod allow the Romance, Marriage, and Childbearing between Elves and Men. While these relationships were extremely rare in Tolkien's Universe, I wanted to allow them outside the scripted situation of Aragorn and Arwen.
Mechanics
Romance Schemes can now be used between Elves and Men, provided you are of a Good faith ( Children of Ilúvatar religion, Teachings of the Wise doctrine, or Echoes of the Ainur doctrine). This is more then just a condition for the Scheme. It is an expectation throughout the relationship. Elves have no tolerance for darkness. If you convert to an evil faith after marrying an Elf, there will be consequences...
These Schemes are much more difficult then standard romance schemes. Interracial Courtships will suffer a hefty penalty to Scheme Power and Success Chance, so they will take several years to complete and require more compatible personality traits or lifestyle perks to guaruntee success.
If you successfully manage to romance an Elf, an event will fire to commit to the relationship through marriage. This is your last chance to back out. Elves take "till death do us part" very seriously. No divorces are permitted in these Unions regardless of faith. Children will always follow the dynasty of the human spouse, the patri/matrilineality of the marriage is handled automatically to reflect that.
Once married, you will gain access to a unique decision to have a child. These children will always be Human. The choice of kinship was only available specific members of the House of Eärendil. If the Human parent is of Númenorean blood, children of these Unions will never lose the potency of their parent's Númenorean blood as these Unions have the blessing of Eru.
By becoming part of such a Union, Elves forsake the eternal life of the Eldar. As such, when the Human spouse dies, the Elf will fade from grief, though players have the option to carry on for a hefty stress penalty.
Compatibility
Requires Lord of the Rings: Realms in Exile. Other submods may not be compatible, especially if they edit Marriage Interactions or Romance Schemes.
