Paradox has added "icon = " lines to, what looks like, most interactions. That means updating this particular mod has become more time consuming, and with little benefit, other than giving the game more specific icons and changing the style of icon used in the menu. That said, I love that Paradox finally decided to add icons to their interactions. If you prefer my mod's style over Paradox's, consider switching to the LITE version, as that one will be kept up to date. [/b]

Adding icons to CK3 one interaction at a time.

 

It always bothered me how just a few interactions got icons while the vast majority were left blank. Thankfully Paradox made it very easy to mod new icons in.

 

Style follows the one used in CK3 for icons in town UI panels, etc.

Right now, my priority is to populate every single vanilla game interaction out there. It's extremely hard for me to find them all, so I'll need your help. If you see an interaction that's missing an icon, let me know exactly what it's called in the comment section. I will scour the game files for its ID and make an icon for it. If I can't find it, it's probably because it's a modded interaction.

Speaking of mods, I did create many many icons for the mods that I currently use (over 100 in my game).

 

A lot of these icons came from google image searches and were then edited (sometimes heavily) on Photoshop. I was careful (hopefully) to only use Creative Commons icons.

 

A lot more came from the amazing Noun Project (google them), then edited by me. I freaking love that site.

 

Some are taken directly from the game files, then, of course, heavily edited.

 

I won't be uploading a different version without mod icons. It's just too much of a headache. Don't worry though, if you don't have the mods, the icons will just be ignored. And if you do have them, well, they'll load automagically.

Modders:

 

If you'd like to create icons with the same style as the ones I used, based on other CK3 icons (used in places like county windows), the process is very simple:

 

Open one of the larger (resolution wise) dds files in CK3's char interaction icon folder.

Use that size as a template.

Inside the Traits folder, there are empty frames. I used those for texturing and colors.

For the icons to show up, you just need to set up the correct icon folder structure, then rename the icon's dds to the corresponding interaction ID.

1.1 - Major update. Too many changes to list. Added a few new icons. Made all icons have the same style.

 

1.2 - Major update. Added about 20 icons. Some are from mods. Added icon for Break Betrothal, Adopt Faith, Invite to Court, Blackmail, Move to House Arrest, among others. Adjusted black borders on some icons. Changed Grant Titles icon. Changed Find Spouse.

 

1.3 - Major update. Over 36 new icons and some more modifications, but the main thing is that I changed my old Vassal icon. Dang that thing was ugly. I will never forgive myself.

 

1.4 - Major update. A few new icons. Fixed Paradox icons overwriting mod icons. Now edits interaction files to stop the game from using 1 icon on multiple interactions.

 

1.4.2 - Minor update. Fixed icon borders for Gold icon, Claim/revoke title shields. Made marriage/divorce/betrothal rings thicker. Peace sign icon is now a white dove.

 

1.5 - Giant update. Added a ridiculous amount of icons for the mods I play with. Changed a few existing icons.

 

1.6 - Minor update. Changed Inspiration icon. Looks like the game's default icon now. Fixed missing outline for abduction. 1.5.1 compatibility.

 

1.6.1 - Minor. Compatibility with 1.6. No new icons added.

 

1.6.2 - Compatibility with 1.6.1.2. Some new icons added. More to come.

 

1.7 - Compatibility with 1.7.0. A few icons added. Not enough to post a screenshot.

 

1.7.1 - Compatibility with 1.7.1

 

1.8 - Compatibility with 1.8

 

1.9 - Compatibility with 1.9.0.4, added icons. This is the last update for the full version.

COMPATIBILITY

 

This mod is compatible with EVERYTHING. Just put it high on your load order. That should give it a low priority. Any mod that makes changes to the INTERACTIONS files, will be prioritized over this mod, which is GRAPHICAL.

 

IF YOU HAVE A MOD THAT CHANGES THE FILES THIS MOD ALTERS, AND, you wish to have interactions use a specific icon, instead of a single icon used in multiple interactions, all you have to do is open that mod's file and remove EVERY INSTANCE OF THE LINE "icon = <name of icon>", located below the interaction name. There aren't many. Delete the line. This will then make the game search for the specific icon. That's the only change I made in the game files.

 

There might be a mod that I've made an icon for, that ALSO has an icon, but maybe it's in a different style. If you'd like to use my style instead of said mod, you can: 1) Load this mod after the other mod; 2) Go into my mods icon folder, find the correct interaction icon, and replace the original with mine. You can see what folder your mods are in but looking at the ID number in the address bar, in the mod's workshop page.
