Mesopotamian religion is among the oldest documented religions and was still practiced in some form as late as the 18th century AD and more prominently as late as the 10th century AD. But there are already several mods out there that deal with Mesopotamian religion so why did I make a new one? In my opinion the error that a lot of "revival" religion mods make is that they basically recreate the ancient religion as it was in antiquity. But just like Christianity is no longer the ancient Canaan Yawhist religion late mesopotamian religion was not the same as the ancient Sumerian religion. This mod aims to create a plausible late Mesopotamian religious movement. The issue is that while we know from various sources that Mesopotamian religion was still alive in the 10th century and beyond we have no reliable sources for how the religion evolved and what it was like in medieval times. As such this mod is mostly fantasy but aims to create a plausible late mesopotamian religion with heavy Christian and Islamic (and Zoroastrian) influences. The focus is on the Inanna / Ishtar / Tammuz / Dumuzid cult as it is the most well attested in the middle ages.
