GODS REBORN

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Shake the foundations of medieval faith with a return to the old ways of the Romans, Greeks or Egyptians! This mod brings new decisions, event chains and faiths to allow you to research and rebuild ancient religions from the ground up.
v 1.0 Features:
  • New religions - Romulism (Roman), Ma'at (Egyptian, as well as a reworking of Hellenism (Greek), each with appropriate pantheons of gods and goddesses, priests and more. NOTE: You will need to start a new game, as the new religions won't appear otherwise!
  • Decisions and event chains to allow an intelligent, open-minded ruler to rediscover the mysteries of the ancient religions... provided they have the fortitude to see such a momentous journey through.
  • New traits for those who DON'T have the fortitude to see the journey through.
  • Bring Roman culture back - yes, you can at last have Roman titles, culture AND religion. Triple whammy! Also legionnaires, because what's a soldier without a leather miniskirt?
  • New holy orders
Coming in future updates:
  • Even more religions! Babylonians! Celts (maybe)!
  • Even more interactions with your angry courtiers as you paddle furiously against the tide of history!
  • More in-depth augury!
  • CROWS???
HOW TO GET STARTED:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Any character with the 'apostate' perk can now visit ancient sites within their realm. However, to really get the most out of this, they'll need to have a significant holy site for Romulism, Hellenism or Ma'at within their realms. Where are these sites? You'll have to look around to find out...

Finally, successfully converting to an ancient, dead religion is HARD! Even straight-up geniuses will find this journey difficult, and it WILL drain a significant amount of piety as you go. It is blasphemy, after all. Other side effects include the spending of vast sums of money on ancient tomes and scrolls, and becoming so stressed they eventually went a little doolally. Proceed with caution - the ancient gods won't yield their secrets lightly!

SPECIAL THANKS

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A huge debt of thanks has to go to the Paradox forum modding community for their kind, patient help, and without whom I'd never have got anywhere near completion. In particular: Thomas_Oak, durbal, Anyasia, esoanem, Vasolik and Tatterhood are the greatest.
Also thanks to Charles The Bald of West Francia, who was an unwilling guinea-pig during testing. Oh boy, the thinags that guy saw. The things he saw...
