FIX THE PROBLEM WHERE DECISIONS AREN'T SHOWING
I have found an issue where the mods don't work, and there was a person in the paradox forusm which fixed it.
- Navigate to where your Paradox Mods have been downloaded. It's presumably at C:UsersusernameDocumentsParadox InteractiveCrusader Kings IIImod
- Open the directory for a mod. It should be something like pdx_11111. Inside you should find a .cpatch thing (no idea what that is), and a zipped file with some weird name.
- Double click that to see what's inside. If you double click on the descriptor.mod file, there will be a name property that tells you what the mod actually is.
- Click on the Extract All option in Windows Explorer and extract the zip to your mod folder identified in step 1. Rename this folder to some sensible name for the mod (myModName).
- Now go into the folder you extracted and it should look like a regular mod (common, gui, etc). Take the descriptor file there and copy it back into the parent folder (the mod folder). Rename this descriptor.mod file to be myModName.mod.
- Open the myModName.mod file and add one more line at the bottom that specifies the path like:
- path="C:/Users/username/Documents/Paradox Interactive/Crusader Kings III/mod/myModName"
- Note that username above should be your Windows username in your folder tree. myModName has to match the name of the extracted folder with common/gui/etc. in it. And the path has to be all forward slashes. If you copy in Windows, it might give you backslashes instead, and those don't work.
- Boot the game. In your installed mods list, you'll see a bunch of local mods listed now (the ones you manually extracted). Put those into your playset and disable all the ones you downloaded from Paradox Mods (those are the zipped ones that don't work). Create a new playset and put all your local mods in it. Keep all your Paradox Mods in a separate playset. This way, when a mod updates in the Paradox mod set, you can unzip it and load it into the other playset without conflicts.
- Launch the game and you should be able to play.
